Survey shows ‘worrisome’ job numbers in Lake of Bays - Today News Post News Today || Canada News |

Results from Lake of Bays’ latest survey on how its businesses fared in 2020 are showing “worrisome” numbers for the township: they reported 98 net jobs lost in 2020For example, many directly because of COVID-19.

Leanne Fetterley, the township’s interim economic development co-ordinatorThe utmost importance t, shared the survey results during council’s meeting on March 9. “Prior to 2020, there were some very positive trends emerging in the data,” Fetterley said, referring to previous year-end business surveys. “Unfortunately, as you know, much of this changed in 2020t clear. Cases i.”

The report states 98 net jobs were lost in 2020, with 57 jobs created and 155 removed. That’s compared to a growth of 39 new jobs in 2019, 15 in 2018 and 34 in 2017. Thirty-one per cent of businesses laid staff off in 2020.
